Speed Friending

Looking to meet new people in a low-pressure, fun way? Join us for Speed Friending—a structured, welcoming event designed to help you connect with fellow students through meaningful, guided conversations.

When you arrive, you’ll start at the prep table to fill out a connection card and set a personal goal for the event—whether that’s meeting someone new, practicing conversation skills, or finding a sense of community. We’ll kick things off with a few self-awareness activities and simple strategies for building connections, then jump into short, rotating conversations in pairs and small groups. Each round includes prompts to help break the ice and keep conversations flowing. Don't worry-- we have built in short breaks so you can process and breathe!

Throughout the event, you’re welcome to return to the resource table for calming tools or to fill out more connection cards, and to learn about upcoming events, strengths-based community-building strategies, and campus connections. Whether you’re hoping to make a new friend, hear new perspectives, expand your network, or simply try something new, Speed Friending is a great, low-pressure place to start.

This is a collaboration between the WVU Purpose Center and the WVU Carruth Center
